THE ROLE OF THE BOARD

Ten Vital Roles of Board Members in a Capital Campaign

1. Approve the priorities to be addressed and the case for support of the capital campaign.

7. Monitor progress of the campaign, especially assuring its objectives are being met in a cost-effective manner.

8. Support the CEO of the organization, understanding that a campaign may require as much as 40 percent (or more) of his/her time during the campaign period.

Optional depending upon skills:

9. Serve as a volunteer solicitor and/or committee member in the campaign organization.

10. Accept a leadership role as a division, committee, or overall Campaign Chairperson.
